Reports indicate that twin explosions targeted a livestock market in Afgoye, Lower Shebelle Province, located 30km (18 miles) northwest of Mogadishu. Up to five people have reportedly been injured in the incident, though the casualty count could increase considerably in the coming hours. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Furthermore, a suicide attack was reported in Marka (Merca), Lower Shebelle Province, located approximately 100km (62 miles) southwest of Mogadishu. The attack killed the town's district commissioner. Up to 11 other casualties were also reported. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast.
