Armed forces are conducting a security operation in and around Colombo's Galle Face Green as of July 22 amid an ongoing indefinite state of emergency. Security personnel have deployed to clear the Presidential Secretariat occupied by protesters, and the main anti-government protest camp at Galle Face Green from around 01:00 July 22. Officials reported the arrest of eight people and two injuries. Activists claim at least 40 protesters are wounded.
Retaliatory protests are likely. Popular protest venues include government buildings, railway stations, public squares, as well as offices and homes of politicians.
