Sri Lanka: Unplanned water disruptions affecting parts of Colombo to continue through 06:00 July 8
Unpanned water outages affecting parts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, through 06:00 July 8. Commercial disruptions possible.
Event
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced water outages in Colombo 12-15 due to pipeline damages will continue through at least 06:00 July 8. Colombo area 1 will also experience a low-pressure water supply during this period.
Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged water supply disruptions are possible, particularly if the recovery works take longer than expected. While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, increased demand and ongoing fuel shortages could limit availability.
Advice
Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
