Police officers affiliated with the Alliance of Police Unions of Uruguay (Union de Sindicatos Policiales de Uruguay, USIP) plan to rally in Montevideo, July 14, to protest a recent salary increase announced by the government, which they consider to be too small. Activists plan to demonstrate outside of the Jose Artigas building of the Legislative Palace, along Avenida de las Leyes, starting at 10:00.

Hundreds of people are likely to participate in the demonstration, which is likely to cause transport and business disruptions in its vicinity. Heightened security in the area is also likely.
