Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Aug. 28 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Aug. 26: Outages will occur in Sen Sok, Pou Senchey, Chbar Ampov, and Prek Pnov districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Takhmao City and Pnhea Leu District in Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Aug. 27: Power disruptions will impact Russey Keo and Pou Senchey districts in Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are also planned in Sen Sok, Pou Senchey, and Chbar Ampov districts 08:00-16:00.
Aug. 28: Electricity disruptions will occur in the Dangkor and Kambol districts in Phnom Pen, and Ang Snoul district, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are planned in Pou Senchey and Chbar Ampov districts in Phnom Penh, as well as Takhmao City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are possible in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
