Disruptive protests between rival soccer fans have been reported near Doroteo Guamuch Flores stadium in Guatemala City late Aug. 18 during a soccer match. Street fights broke out in the early evening between supporters of the Honduras side F.C. Olimpia and the Guatemalan C.S.D. Municipal before the game began, with reports of gunshots. Riot police deployed and used tear gas to disperse the crowds. At least one person has been hospitalized with gunshot wounds, and police have arrested at least six rioters.

A heavy security presence and traffic disruptions are almost certain in the vicinity of the stadium until early Aug. 19. Further violent demonstrations and street fights are possible.
