India: Activists to protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi Aug. 16-22

Over 200 organizations affiliated with the Sanyukta Rojgar Andolan Samiti (Joint Employment Movement Committee, SRAS) will stage a protest at the Jantar Mantar observatory in New Delhi Aug. 16-22. Participants are demanding that Parliament pass the proposed National Employment Policy created by the Desh Ki Baat Foundation. It was not immediately clear how many participants will attend the gathering.

Authorities will likely deploy security personnel to monitor the gathering in central New Delhi. Localized transport disruptions are likely near the affected area. Business disruptions are possible near the Jantar Mantar observatory through Aug. 22. Minor clashes between police and protesters are possible.
