Authorities in Kiribati have reopened the border to international travelers as of Aug. 1. Officials have also lifted quarantine requirements for inbound travelers. International commercial flights will probably remain limited in the near term.

Domestic Measures
The country remains under Alert Level 3, the highest on a five-tier scale. Gatherings of up to 50 people can occur outdoors. Facemasks are mandatory at most indoor locations and on public transport.

Public transport is operating with seated customers only, reducing capacity. Travel between Tarawa and outer islands can occur; passengers no longer need to undergo pre-departure testing or quarantine.

International Travel Restrictions
The government permits fully vaccinated individuals to enter the country via South Tarawa. Inbound passengers must undergo a COVID-19 test at a clinic within three days after arrival.
