Clashes broke out between rival armed groups in central Tripoli early Aug. 27, Fighting initially occurred on Zawiya Street at around 02:00. Clashes then escalated near Bab Bin Ghashir and Sarim Street. According to local sources, fighting is ongoing near Zawiya, Jumariyah, and Sarim streets. Initial reports indicate at least two people died in the clashes; officials may update casualty numbers over the coming hours.

Further confrontations between opposing groups are possible. Militia deployments could cause disruptions to state operations; transport and business disruptions are also possible.
