Scheduled water outages to affect parts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Aug. 20-21. Commercial disruptions possible.

Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced maintenance works will cause water outages in Colombo areas 05 and 06, 23:00 Aug. 20-09:00 Aug. 21. Colombo area 04 will experience low-pressure water supply during this period. Affected regions include Bambalapitiya, Havelock Town, Kirulapona, Narahenpita, Pamankada, and Wellawatta.

Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. While residents typically rely on private water suppliers during water outages, ongoing fuel shortages could limit availability.

Advice

Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
