Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Sept. 11 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Sept. 9: Outages will occur in the Boeung Keng Kang, Chbar Ampov, Pou Senchey, Preaek Phnov, and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh 08:00-14:00.
Sept. 10: Power disruptions will impact Ta Khmau city, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are planned in the Dangkor, Preaek Phnov, and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00.
Sept. 11: Electricity disruptions will occur in the Pou Senchey District of Phnom Penh and Ta Khmau city, Kandal Province, 08:00-14:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
