Activists in Colombia plan to stage protest marches nationwide beginning 10:00 Sept. 26 to denounce the alleged economic and policy failures of the government. Organizers have announced the following events:
Barranquilla: Activists to march from Joe Arroyo monument toward Paseo de Bolivar Park.
Bogota: Participants will gather at Plaza Heroes Caidos statue to march towards Parque Nacional and Plaza de Bolívar parks.
Bucaramanga: Protesters will meet at Puerta del Sol restaurant before marching to Plazoleta Luis Carlos Galan park.
Cali: Demonstrators will gather at the Pan-American Park and march to the Plazoleta Jairo Varela park.
Cartagena: Activists will assemble at the Camellon of the Martyrs monument before marching to an as yet unspecified location.
Cucuta: Activists will march from Ventura Plaza to Santander Park.
Medellin: Protesters will gather at Pablo Tobon Uribe Hospital and march to the Park of the Lights.
Monteria: Activists will gather at Plazoleta Maria Varilla park before marching to Simon Bolivar Park.
Pereira: Organizers will meet at San Andresito Shopping Center and then march to Plaza de Bolivar park.
Uraba: Protesters will gather near the Apartado House of Culture before marching to the Yo Amo a Uraba monument.
Villavicencio: Demonstrators will meet at the Viva Shopping Center and march to Plaza de los Libertadores Park.
Heightened security is likely throughout the planned marches routes, as are transport and business disruptions.
