Ireland: Aer Lingus begins to restore service late Sept. 10 following flight cancellations from Dublin Airport due to IT outage /update 1
Aer Lingus begins to restore service Sept. 10 after canceling flights from Dublin Airport, Ireland, due to IT connectivity malfunction.
Event
Aer Lingus (EI) has begun resuming service from Dublin Airport (DUB) late Sept. 10 after an IT connectivity malfunction forced the carrier to cancel 51 flights primarily between DUB and UK and European destinations starting at 14:00 the same day. The malfunction prevented access to key systems for check-in and boarding, as well as functions on EI's website. The outage had no impact on transatlantic flights operating out of Shannon Airport (SNN).
EI advises that, although all of its transatlantic services from Dublin are now operating, these flights may experience delays or carry fewer passengers due to security restrictions resulting from the IT outage. Aer Lingus Regional, which is operated by Emerald Airlines (EA), is also planning to operate its remaining services for Sept. 10, albeit with some delays. Lingering disruptions are likely once services normalize as the carrier repositions aircraft and works through its passenger backlog.
Advice
Confirm flights if booked to travel on board Aer Linguis via DUB through at least early Sept. 11. Allow extra time to check in and clear airport security. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
