Unionized security staff employees at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) are currently blocking access to the airport as part of a strike and protest over a recent awarding of a security contract to two providers. Protesting employees are reportedly blocking traffic on roundabouts approaching the airport.
The roadblock protests are preventing road vehicles from reaching CRL. Striking security staff members will likely result in significant delays to passenger processing procedures at the airport. It is not clear when the strike and protest are likely to end; CRL officials warn of possible disruptions through Oct. 23.
