Colombia: Protests scheduled in Bogota, Oct. 28
Students and other activists to hold protests in several locations throughout Bogota, Colombia, from 10:00 Oct. 28. Disruptions likely.
Event
Members and supporters of the organization known as First Line (Primera Linea) plan to hold several protests in Bogota, Oct. 28, to demand the release of several of their members, and oppose some bills that they claim limit the right to demonstrate.
Activists intend to gather in several locations starting at 10:00, including:
Puente de la Dignidad (Avenida Caracas and Calle 76 B), in Usme
Universidad Pedagogica (Calle 72 and Carrera 11)
Universidad Nacional (Carrera 30 and Calle 45)
Aduanilla de Paiba (Calle 13), scheduled to start at 10:30
From those locations, it is likely that the activists will march to the Attorney General's Office, located in Teusaquillo.
Hundreds, perhaps thousands, are likely to participate in the demonstrations, which are likely to cause transport and business disruptions. Members and supporters of Primera Linea have clashed in previous demonstrations with police, and similar clashes cannot be ruled out Oct. 28.
Advice
Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time and plan to use alternative routes, if operating near the impacted areas of Bogota, Oct. 28.
