Germany: Regional rail services in Baden-Wurttemberg State disrupted through Oct. 17 due to strike action

Regional rail services in Baden-Wurttemberg State disrupted through 02:00 Oct. 17 due to strike action. Confirm services.

Warning

Event

Regional rail services in Baden-Wurttemberg operated by SWEG are experiencing significant disruptions as of Oct. 15 due to strike action by employees from the GDL union; the action is due to last through 02:00 Oct. 17. Routes most severely impacted are those between Tubingen, Stuttgart, and Heilbronn, as well as between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.

Services which do operate are likely to be more congested than usual. Increased demand for alternative forms of transport could lead to increased road traffic congestion and reduced taxi availability during the strike. Residual rail disruptions are possible after the strike ends as the train operator repositions rolling stock.

Advice

Reconfirm the status of rail transport in Baden-Wurttemberg during the scheduled strike time frame and into at least the early hours of Oct. 17. Consider using alternative transport for time-sensitive travel. Allow extra time to reach destinations due to increased traffic congestion and demand for alternative transport.
