Ongoing WWII bomb disposal operation ongoing in Wroclaw, Poland, Oct. 13, prompting evacuations and transport disruptions.

Informational

Event

Authorities are currently disposing of a World War II-era bomb in Wroclaw Oct. 13. The device was discovered during construction on Osobowicka Street in the Osobowice area of the city. Authorities have implemented an approximately 1,000 meter (3,280 foot) security cordon around the device to facilitate the disposal operation.

Residents within the security cordon have been evacuated; most roads within the security cordon are closed to traffic, except for the Millennium Bridge which remains accessible to vehicles. Bus and tram services normally operating in the surrounding area are likely to be canceled or diverted. Officials estimate that the disposal operation will be completed by 12:00; lingering disruptions are likely beyond this point as security cordons are lifted and traffic flows return to normal.

Advice

Avoid the area until the authorities give the all-clear. Check public transport schedules and local traffic conditions for disruptions before travel; plan alternative routes if necessary.
