Spain: Pensioners demonstrating in Madrid, Oct. 15

Pensioner lobby groups, including the State Coordinator for the Defense of the Public Pension System (COESPE), joined by unions such as the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) are staging a demonstration in central Madrid Oct. 15 to demand better wages and pensions, and decent work conditions. At least 15,000 participants gathered at Atocha Roundabout and will march to Plaza del Callao.

Although it is likely to pass off peacefully, police are likely to deploy to monitor the demonstration. Localized road travel disruptions are likely along the march route.

Check for disruptions and allow extra time for travel in the affected area through the evening of Oct. 15. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
