Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Nov. 19 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:

  • Nov. 18: Outages will occur in the Tuol Kork and Chroy Changvar districts 08:00-13:00. Further planned disruptions will take place in 7 Makara District, Tuol Kork, Pou Senchey, and Kamboul district of Phnom Penh, as well as Angk Snuol District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

  • Nov. 19: Electricity disruptions planned in Pou Senchey District 08:00-16:00.

Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Advice

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
