Power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Nov. 27 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Nov. 25: Parts of Chbar Ampov, Por Sen Chey, Prek Pnov, Sen Sok, and Tuol Kork districts.
Nov. 26: Parts of Kambol, Por Sen Chey, and Sen Sok districts, and Takhmao City, Kandal Province.
Nov. 27: Parts of Takhmao City, Kandal Province.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are possible in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and filling stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Advice
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are working, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
