Gambia: Activist group indefinitely postpones nationwide protests originally slated for Nov. 11 /update 1

The activist group Coalition of Progressive Gambians (CoPG) has postponed a demonstration originally scheduled for Nov. 11 until further notice. The decision follows the government's announcement of its willingness to engage in dialog with the CoPG and the nation's Supreme Islamic Council with regard to the specific issues raised. Nevertheless, activists could organize new protest campaigns with little-to-no notice should authorities renege on their commitment or the talks collapse.
