Authorities will likely maintain increased security in the town of Bakau over the coming days following a Dec. 1 incident in which angry residents clashed with police. Groups of youths began protesting and attacked the police station on Sait Matty Road, reportedly in an effort to gain access to a suspect being held in connection with the recent murder of a local taxi driver. Officers used tear gas to disperse the crowd and have urged the public to remain calm as investigators pursue the case.
