Sri Lanka: Activists plan nationwide anti-governmental protests Dec. 8-9

The Inter-University Students' Federation (IUSF) has called for nationwide protests outside public universities Dec. 8, while political and trade groups will hold day-long rallies near the parliament building in Colombo. Government worker unions have also planned lunchtime demonstrations outside workplaces Dec. 8 and near the Fort Railway Station in Colombo Dec. 9. Additional unannounced gatherings are likely in the coming days.
