Sri Lanka: Officials have lifted COVID-19 restrictions for entrants as of Dec. 13 /update 82
Sri Lanka withdraws COVID-19 entry curbs as of Dec. 13. Vaccination or pre-departure testing not required for entrants.
Event
Sri Lankan officials have lifted travel-related COVID-19 restrictions as of Dec. 13. Incoming passengers no longer need to present a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test result or proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Entrants do not require on-arrival testing or quarantine. Individuals who test positive during their stay in Sri Lanka must isolate up to seven days at home, hotels, or health facilities.
Domestic Measures
Authorities limit public transport vehicles to seated capacity. Dine-in, indoor gathering, and retail venues can operate with social distancing measures. Unauthorized public gatherings are banned. However, adherence and enforcement levels are generally poor. Authorities may enact stricter rules in areas at high risk for COVID-19 transmission.
International Travel Restrictions
Sri Lanka permits entry for international travelers. Although on-arrival visas are available, authorities encourage travelers to apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to entering the country.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays.
