Cambodia: Planned power outages to continue in parts of Phnom Penh through Feb. 25
Planned power outages to continue across Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through Feb. 25 due to maintenance work. Disruptions likely.
Event
Due to maintenance work, planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Feb. 25. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Feb. 23: Outages will occur in Tuol Kork District from 08:00-13:00. Electricity disruptions are also scheduled in the Daun Penh, Pou Senchey, and Sen Sok districts from 08:00-16:00.
Feb. 24: Electricity disruptions are planned in Chroy Changvar, Tuol Kork districts of Phnom Penh, and Ta Khmau City in Kandal Province from 08:00-13:00. Additional scheduled outages will occur in Dangkor, Prek Pnov, and Sen Sok districts from 08:00-16:00.
Feb. 25: Electricity disruptions are scheduled in Russey Keo District from 08:00-13:00. Further disruptions will occur in Boeng Keng Kang, Dang Kor, Sen Sok districts in Phnom Penh, as well as Ta Khmau City in Kandal Province from 08:00-16:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Advice
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
