Authorities impose varying curfews in parts of Kingston, Jamaica, until Feb. 14 due to increased violence. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Authorities are imposing varying curfews in parts of the Kingston Western Division through Feb. 14 to respond to an increase in armed criminal activity. During the curfew, all residents are required to stay in their homes, unless they have the written permission of authorities. This is the second time within a month that a curfew has been imposed. Affected areas include:

  • Tivoli Gardens until 18:00 Feb. 13

  • Denham Town until 18:00 Feb. 14

An increased security presence and business and transit disruptions are almost certain in the affected areas until the curfews expire. Violence between police and gangs is possible.

Advice

Abide by the conditions of the curfews. Consider deferring travel to the impact areas until the curfews are over. Plan for business and transit disruptions in the area. Heed the advice of security personnel.
