The Independent Transport Workers' Association of Nepal (ITWAN) has called off a strike in Kathmandu Feb. 14 following talks with officials. Participants began the action the same day to demand several concessions, including lower traffic violation fees. Related demonstrations took place Feb. 13 in Balaju, Chakrapath, and Gongabu; localized transport disruptions occurred along several sections of the Kathmandu Ring Road. Several incidents of vandalism were also reported.

Lingering transport disruptions are possible through Feb. 14 as drivers return to work.
