A magnitude-5.0 offshore earthquake occurred off the coast of central Choco Department at around 22:59 March 6. The epicenter was about 47 km (29 miles) southwest of Nuqui. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 9 km (5 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout Antioquia, Choco, western Caldas, Quindio, Risaralda, and Valle del Cauca departments. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely.
