Delays reported at Faro International Airport (FAO) in Faro, Portugal, March 17, due to ongoing civil workers' strike.

Warning

Event

An ongoing strike by Portugal's public workers is affecting flight arrivals at Faro International Airport (FAO) in Faro March 17. Reports indicate a large number of Foreigners and Borders Service (Servico de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras, SEF) agents have not reported to work, leaving arriving passengers from non-European Union countries stranded for hours in the airport. The protest action is mainly affecting travelers from the UK. Reports indicate that the strike did not prompt disruptions at other airports serviced by SEF.

Disruptions are likely to continue until at least late March 17, although they cannot be ruled out through early March 18.
