Fiji: Municipal water supply disruptions affecting Lami, Nausori, and Suva as of April 12

Municipal water supply disruptions affecting Lami, Nausori, and Suva, Fiji, as of April 12. Minimize nonessential water use.

Informational

Event

Water supply disruptions are affecting Lami, Nausori, and Suva as of April 12 due to low rainfall. The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is implementing measures to conserve water, including prohibiting nonessential water use such as watering plants and washing cars or driveways. WAF has advised customers in the affected areas to call water trucks if necessary but has not indicated when regular water services will resume.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Contact WAF to request water trucks. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes before use. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
