A cargo vessel collided with Low Gouwe Railway Bridge in Gouda City the morning of April 7. The accident damaged the bridge, leading to reduced ProRail train services on the line between Gouda and Alphen aan den Rijn cities. ProRail has stated that normal train services will only resume after repairing the bridge. Officials did not immediately release an estimated timetable for reopening the bridge. The collision is also causing shipping disruptions, as the bridge is not accessible for vessels that are taller than 7 meters (23 feet).

Disruptions to train travel and maritime shipment are almost certain in the affected routes over the coming days as crews conduct repairs.
