Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) has confirmed that rail services between The Hague and Leiden will be suspended through April 11. This follows an accident at Voorschoten in which one person was killed and 30 others were injured early April 4. A passenger and a freight train collided. NS announced that repair work will take a week to complete. A bus service along the impacted route has been enacted.

Increased demand for alternative transport is likely. Traffic congestion is possible as some travelers opt to use personal vehicles, taxis, and ride-hailing services.
