Paraguay: Protesters plan to gather in Asuncion April 18

Activists affiliated with the National Association of Retirees (Asociacion Nacional de Jubilados) plan to demonstrate in central Asuncion on April 18. Participants will gather outside the Social Security Institute (Instituto de Prevision Social, IPS) on Constitucion Road from 09:00. Protesters will denounce perceived corruption, among other issues, and demand more assistance for retired citizens. The amount of participants the event may draw remains unclear.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely near the protest. Isolated scuffles between police and protesters cannot be ruled out.
