Spain: Unionized Air Europa pilots to strike nationwide in early May

Unionized Air Europa pilots in Spain plan strike action May 1-2 and May 4-5. Confirm flights.

Warning

Event

Air Europa (UX) pilots associated with the Sindicato Espanol de Pilotos de Lineas Aereas (Spanish Union of Airline Pilots, SEPLA) plan to strike from May 1-2 and May 4-5. The strike is in support of increased pay.

Unless resolved, the strike is likely to be highly disruptive for travelers. Flights are likely to be delayed or canceled; however, the airline must provide a minimum service on certain routes by law. Disruptions could extend for several hours after each strike period ends as the carrier moves to reposition aircraft and resolve any passenger backlogs.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to fly with Air Europa on strike-affected days. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Arrive early at airports and allow extra time for passenger processing. Consider alternate arrangements for critical travel.
