Bahrain, Qatar: Flights between Bahrain and Qatar to resume on May 25

Bahraini authorities have announced the resumption of flights to and from Qatar beginning May 25. The measure is part of ongoing efforts to normalize relations between the two countries following the cessation of Qatar's diplomatic and economic blockade in 2021.

Context

Bahrain had suspended flights to and from Qatar as part of an economic and political blockade of Doha in 2017. Despite Manama participating in the Saudi-led 2021 Al-Ula Agreement, which de facto ended the blockade of Qatar, it only formally normalized relations with Doha in April 2023.
