Authorities continue to respond to a mass shooting incident that occurred across at least two villages in Mladenovac and Smederevo municipalities in Serbia as of early May 5. Latest reports indicate that police have arrested a suspect in the city of Kragujevac, around 60 km (45 miles) south of the primary incident location in Dubona.

According to local authorities, the assailant fired at people using an automatic rifle from a car, killing at least eight and wounding around 13 others in Dubona and Malo Orasje; the official toll could rise. Dubona is approximately 38 km (24 miles) south-southeast of Belgrade.

A significant police presence will likely continue in the affected areas and nearby villages as authorities conduct investigations. Security cordons in Dubona and the surrounding locations will probably remain. Localized transport disruptions will likely continue in the coming hours.
