Event
The Serbian government has called for a pro-government rally in front of the National Assembly in downtown Belgrade starting from 19:00 May 26. The call followed recent anti-government protests that denounced mass shootings in the country, which ended with the opposition demanding the resignation of the government. Participation in the pro-government rally may attract up to several thousands people. Counterprotests are possible as the recent violence has led to at least two anti-government demonstrations, which attracted tens of thousands of people.
Law enforcement will almost certainly deploy to monitor the event. Clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out. Transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration.
Advice
Avoid the demonstration as a security precaution and to mitigate the personal impact of any associated disruptions. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow extra time for travel in the area the evening of May 26.
