Student representative council (SRC) leaders from Western Cape and Free State province universities have announced they will be protesting in front of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) offices in Cape Town, May 14. They are demanding the payment of scholarships and the retraction of a proposed student aid financing reform amongst other requests. The time of gathering is unclear.

Increased security and localized disruptions are likely near the protest venue, with possible road blockages. Violence is unlikely; however, clashes are possible should protestors refuse to follow orders to disperse or are overly disruptive.
