Activist groups to protest outside diplomatic missions in Yerevan, Armenia, June 27-28. Heightened security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

The pressure group Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) started a series of protests outside diplomatic missions in Yerevan on June 27. The demonstrations are demanding action against Azerbaijan for the alleged blockade of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) region. Protesters have gathered outside the European Union, French, Russian, and US missions. The protest will conclude at 10:00 June 28 at the UN offices. Hundreds of people could participate in the demonstrations.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. While the gathering will probably pass peacefully, minor skirmishes between police and participants remain possible. Further related protests are likely.

Advice

Avoid the protests as a safety precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations in central Yerevan. Confirm appointments in diplomatic missions, and allow extra time for likely increased security checks. Heed instructions of authorities.
