Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province through June 4 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:
June 2: Outages will occur in Chroy Changvar and Sen Sok districts 08:00-13:00. Additional electricity disruptions are scheduled to occur in the Dangkao District of Phnom Penh, as well as parts of Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
June 3: Electricity disruptions are scheduled to occur in Prek Pnov and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Ta Khmao, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00.
June 4: Planned disruptions are slated to take place in Russey Keo and Sen Sok districts 08:00-13:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
