Armed assailants attacked the village of Museya, Beni Territory, North Kivu Province, June 1, killing at least nine people. The motive for the assault is unclear. Authorities have blamed the Islamic State (IS)-aligned Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) for the attack; Search operations continued into June 2 to find missing residents.

Museya is approximately 60 km (37 miles) south of Beni.
Context
The threat of militant violence is severe in eastern regions of the DRC despite the implementation of a State of Siege in Ituri and North Kivu.
