The "Serbia Against Violence" (Srbija protiv nasilja) organization will lead protests in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis on the evening of June 17 to denounce two recent mass shootings in Serbia. All demonstrations are scheduled to commence at 18:00.

Details of the gatherings are as follows:

  • Belgrade: Participants will gather in front of the National Assembly from 18:00 and march towards the highway intersection Petlja Mostar, where they will likely rally.

  • Novi Sad: Participants will gather at the intersection of Temerinska and Partizanska streets.

  • Nis: Participants will gather in the area between Nikola Pasic Street, Kralja Stefan Prvovencani Street, and 7 Juli Street.

This is the seventh demonstration in recent months to demand an end to the perceived promotion of violence in Serbian media and the resignation of the government ministers involved in the country's security.

The event will likely attract several thousand people and significant security force deployments. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the demonstrations. Clashes between demonstrators and police are not anticipated but cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid the demonstrations as a routine security precaution and to mitigate the impact of any associated disruptions. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow extra time for travel in the areas affected through the evening of June 17.
