Belgium: Ryanair pilots based at Brussels Charleroi Airport to strike July 29-30

Ryanair pilots based at Brussels Charleroi Airport, Belgium, to strike July 29-30. Flight disruptions likely. Reconfirm flights.

Informational

Event

Ryanair (FR) pilots based in Belgium will resume strike action July 29-30. Unions representing the striking pilots are demanding the reversal of pay cuts implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and are protesting the unilateral reduction of rest days. The strike will affect Ryanair flights operating out of Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL). However, not all Ryanair flights departing this airport have a Belgium-based pilot. The strike will not affect Ryanair flights operating out of Brussels Airport (BRU), as this airport is served by Ryanair pilots based outside Belgium. This industrial action follows an earlier strike, July 15-16; further industrial action is possible in coming weeks.

Flight disruptions could extend for several hours after the end of the planned walkout as the airline repositions aircraft and/or works through any passenger backlogs.

Advice

Confirm flight status and reservations during the labor action period. Do not check out of accommodations or leave for the airport until onward travel is confirmed.
