Event

Members of the Dominican Liberation Party (Partido de la Liberacion Dominicana) will march in downtown Santo Domingo on July 8. The purpose of the action is to denounce growing insecurity and the growing cost of living, among various other grievances. Participants will gather from 15:00 at the intersection of Avenida Juan Pablo Duarte and Avenida Pedro Livio Cedeno. Organizers have indicated that the march will last approximately two hours and end at Santo Domingo's Malecon.

Although the action should be largely peaceful, authorities are likely to maintain a heightened security presence near the march as a precaution. Clashes between security forces and protesters while unlikely, cannot be ruled out. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.
