A magnitude-5.6 offshore earthquake occurred in the Molucca Sea at around 13:42 July 17. The epicenter was about 307 km (191 miles) northwest of Ambon, Maluku Province. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout parts of southern North Maluku and northwestern Maluku provinces.
