Informational

Event

Kurdish activists plan to demonstrate in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 11:30 July 22. The purpose of the action is to denounce the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which in 1923 delimited the borders of modern Turkiye. The organizers announced protesters would gather at Place de la Navigation, near the Chateau d'Ouchy, from 11:30 and would march from 13:00 towards Place de la Riponne to protest in front of the Palais de Rumine, the historical site of the signing of the Treaty, from 15:00. Organizers announced between 10,000 and 15,000 protesters could join the demonstration.

The protest may cause some short-term localized road travel disruptions. Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor the march. Violence is unlikely.

Advice

Plan for some localized road travel delays near the protest sites, particularly during the start and end of the event. Heed the instructions of local officials. Reconfirm the status of road routes before departure.
