UK: Police response to civil unrest in Manchester, July 21

Police are likely to remain deployed in the vicinity of Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester after several dozen youths gathered in the area, July 21. Manchester Metrolink reported earlier that due to an incident near Market Street/Piccadilly Gardens, all services had been diverted via Exchange Square; normal service has since resumed. The reason for the gathering is not clear.

Further spontaneous gatherings are possible. Police will likely deploy to and disperse any further gatherings that occur. Additional short-term and localized travel delays are possible.
