Unionized train drivers affiliated with the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) plan to suspend non-contractual overtime work July 31-Aug. 5, due to an ongoing pay dispute.
Officials state that disruptions are likely in the following train operating companies;
Chiltern Railways
Gatwick Express
Greater Anglia (Including Stansted Express
Greater Western Railway
Greater Northern
Southern
Southern Western Railway (including Island Line)
Thameslink
TransPennine Express
Additional rail disruptions are possible on the following train operating companies;
Avanti West Coast
CorsscCounty
East Midlands Railway
LNER
London Northwestern Railway
Northern
Southeastern
West Midlands railways
Officials have announced that c2c, Caledonian Sleeper, Grand Central, Elizabeth line, Heathrow Express, Hull Trains, London Overground, Lumo, Merseyrail, ScotRail, and Transport for Wales rail-operating companies will not be impacted.
Unless averted, the labor action will severely disrupt train services across the UK, including delays and cancelations. Increased demand for available forms of transportation is likely. Workers participating in the overtime suspension may protest outside railway stations and other transport hubs.
