Austria: Flood warnings issued for Viktring, Aug. 5

Officials have issued a flood warning in Viktring in southern Klagenfurt, early Aug. 5. Residents have been asked to stay at home and to go to higher areas within their residences. Authorities will discharge water from the Treimischer Teich in a controlled manner which will lead to flooding. The developments follow concerns on Aug. 4 of a breach of a local dam following torrential downpours in the region.

Ground travel delays are likely in parts of the impact area in the coming days. Disruptions to the water supply and other utilities are also possible.
