Activists marching in central Vienna as of evening Dec. 2. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.
As of the evening of Dec. 2, activists are marching in central Vienna to express solidarity with Kurdish forces in Syria. Reports indicate activists began marching along Burgring Road. As of approximately 20:00, demonstrators had gathered at the Austrian Parliament on Dr. Karl Renner-Ring. At least 100 participants appeared to be in attendance.
Police have likely deployed to facilitate the demonstration. Further movements by the protesters or road closures will likely cause transport disruptions. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
